that's all this one has to say on the matter. my dad introduced me to some professors at work. one was from taiwan. he blinked with his eyebrows and emanated a very elitist aura. a patronizing fellow, which i could only expect from an academic professor talking to a freshman who isn't even sure what the hell engineers do and just wants to take cool-sounding courses.
another was the 2004 chemistry nobel prize winner. i didn't actually get to ocnverse with him, but i smiled and shook his hand. i went home early that day because my dad was having dinner with him, though i then had to come in at eight in the morning the next day.
finally, there was a cornell alum in my dad's office to whom i said hi and from whom i absorbed some talking. he was the paunchy, greasy, slicked back asian with glasses that makes me glad not to be him. while he did display some enthusiasm talking about nanotechnology and the possibilities of research in the field, i guess my memory of him is a bit unfairly tinted with the phrase 'i don't make friends; i network.'
other than that, work's been cool due to free food. i've had free sandwiches, free pizza, free chips, free soda, and free ice cream in the last week. i've also eaten at the diner across the street, which is quite solid.
beyond that, it's life as usual. mowed the lawn earlier this afternoon; the lawnmower then malfunctioned as it always does.
wednesday night was brawlin' featuring maksim. thursday night was date night, though we didn't go anywhere but just talked and, uh, talked. friday night was brawlin' again. today was asian party at the expense of anna's second picnic, which she promptly canceled after calling me. way to place responsibility and blame on my shoulders, anna.
asian party was dull. highlight was my dad talking to simon, the son of the hosts there and a yale incoming senior ee major. otherwise zzz.
